Description

Went from a conceptual speed painting to a finished painting after people gave me some positive comments on it. :)

As usual, be sure to check the full size link... Maybe I should do more portrait oriented images so they don't get so painfully squished.

Great atmosphere! I do envy your ability with that. :)

I kinda wish the comp was a little more asymmetrical in its balance, but...eh. :) It's nice!

I like to think of myself as an expert on paleontology. This piece is very nice looking. But, realistically, an animal of such large proportion would not wander in a thick forest. According to the length of the tail, this must be a Diplodocus. But according to the vertical position of the neck, it seems like a Brachiosaurus. But this is just a piece of art. It doesn't really have to make any sort of sense. All in all, it's pretty kool.

I appreciate your knowledge of dinosaurs... I'm a bit of a fan myself. I know it wouldn't wander into a forest... not without knocking over all the trees in its path at least. I didn't research the type of dinosaur at all. Honestly it was something I put in at the last minute because it's so easy. I thought of maybe putting a stego in instead. This kind is just so easy, though. Haha.

I'm sure anyone who knows anything about dinosaurs will think it's pretty ignorant on my behalf, but the majority of people don't seem to mind. I'll just have to say he's wandering around in the sparse edge of a forest.. trying to hide.. yeah.. hide... it's hard for them to hide..

just some silly documentary i saw, the long neck, isnt really to get to the top of high trees for food, it was their lazy heavy ass, and their neck was for swaying from side to side, eating short plants in wide range. (without making many steps) it became clear that these dinosaurs with long necks cant even lift their head higher than the height of their shoulder. WOW! im a freaking NERD!
thought you and arjuntarek's conversation was interesting.

and.... about the peice..
its simply gorgeous vision you put down on the surface.
i love the warpage of the ground, which successfully suggests the long lense- fishy view. (not to mention the centering tree tops) ....and the atmosphere!!! the atmosphere is breathtaking.

slick!

Hehe, thanks for the comment. Someone else commented about this at eatpoo... and then another person countered that certain sauropods were horizontal and others were vertical. Seems to be an archaeological debate going on about the theories and what is physically impossible and possible. I suppose no one will ever know for sure.

Love the eerie feeling. Call me an idiot, but the first time I looked I didn't even notice the dinosaur. Need more coffee...
Like the foggy feel... alot like my thinking process I think.

I dig it!

I've even heard it proposed that some sauropods were bipedal, so I wouldn't worry too much about head up or head down...
