Description

Four of Pentacles: Key Words: Control, Power
This card is the pros and cons of material security and wealth. It is possession and all of the problems inherent in the power gained through ownership and control. It is influence and the end of need, but also material bondage and greed. It is resistance to change, upholding of the status quo and refusal to surrender power.

Done for the Eatpoo Tarot Project! Took a long time... been working on it on and off for a little over a month now, I think. If I had to guess it took at least 20 hours to finish, but there's no certainty in my guess.

Photoshop 7, Wacom Intuos2.

And one last thing. Screw you Tolkien fanatic freaks. I didn't steal this from Hobbit. Tolkien didn't invent dragons hording gold. It doesn't even look like Smaug except that it's red. Red happens to be a good color to go with gold. It makes a triadic color scheme. SO GO ACCUSE SOMEONE ELSE OF RIPPING OFF TOLKIEN, LIKE THAT GUY WHO WON A BUNCH OF OSCARS, UNINFORMED MORONS.

Edit on Jan. 28, 2008: The above striked text was an immature outburst. I apologize for mistakes I made while I was younger.

I like it, it has nice depth...I just think the gold need some areas that really pop with color to make it feel more like gold and metal! Good nonetheless!

Excellent detail with the gold! :)
But the front claws seem to be...flat I guess? I'm not sure, or the claws in the back are longer..seem more detailed..hmm..

Great dragon, but what I love most is all the little details you've added! Well done.

I still think you're insane for painting all those little coins. This is one of your best pieces. +9

Good job!.. Really like this, although, I think it needs more depth.

Bless you and your dragons and your insane amount of detail! Contrary to Zak ^ I dig the amount of depth you've got! Nicely done, and good fade from the warm tones to the cooler ones! Dare I ask you how you went about rendering the gold? o_O

The one thing I must nitpick is his hand...it's a bit...eh...boneless? rubbery? I dunno. Maybe it just needs some curl/clutch to it. :

Anywho, I bow before your patience. ;)

First you see the dragon, then you notice all the golden items around him and you are stunned at the details. The framing is perfect. The dragon is perfect. My top vote.. well deserved!

Hi, Geckzilla!
Great job, your style really comes together in this piece. And the detail simply overwhelms me. The concept is pretty strong and well expressed, but I think the dragon coud look evem more greedy. I'll say it again: your illustration style really starts to pop with this one. :b:

Great feel for the composition, being a 'dragon' artist myself, great dragon! Maybe a little lager for the wings, and the eyes could use a bit more 'selfishness', but that would be personnal preferance, definately accurate emotion, though! I think the gold was done nicely. not too much shine, (only if it were diamond cut).

Love the treasure, but the dragon looks slightly plastic. The chair makes you realize just how big the dragon is :)
